Mountain trails and degraded area’s restoration
From the Kilian Jornet Foundation we embark on a project of great environmental impact, directing our efforts towards the restoration of mountain trails and degraded areas. This initiative, based on four fundamental lines of work, is seen as a beacon of change in the preservation of natural mountain environments.
Direct Actions directly from our Foundation
Under the guidance of the KJF, this line of action involves a series of specific measures aimed at restoring the balance of mountain ecosystems, generating a strong local and territorial impact. The restoration of trails, the removal of abandoned infrastructure, the recovery of degraded areas and the appropriate marking of routes are the main actions under this line of action.
The dissemination of these actions will be carried out actively through various digital platforms, guaranteeing total transparency and a greater awareness of the community towards these issues.
Collaborative Actions: Forging alliances with other environmental associations for greater impact
The KJF seeks alliances with other positive initiatives that are already active in the preservation of natural environments. Trailworks associations, along with other non-profit entities, become key and potential partners for this type of action. Through this collaboration, the goal is to achieve a greater impact on the restoration of mountain territories, demonstrating that together we can work towards the conservation of the environment.
Foundation Scholarships: Encouraging innovation and local action
We are launching a call for grants to finance projects that promote the restoration of trails and degraded areas, with a particular focus on international representation. The selection of proposals will be based on clear criteria, such as location within protected areas, previous experience in similar projects and affiliation with non-profit organizations. By achieving the KJF scholarships, it will involve the organization of a day open to the public before or after, where the planned or executed actions will be explained, with the aim of making the action visible and raise awareness of the impact at community level.
Volunteer Actions: Community at the heart of environmental transformation
Finally, volunteer actions will be organized to directly involve the local community in the restoration of natural spaces. Open to individuals, companies and other interested groups, these days represent a unique opportunity for active participation in the conservation of the environment and for the promotion of belonging and collectivity.
In summary, the Kilian Jornet Foundation’s mountain trails and degraded areas restoration project not only represents a firm commitment to the preservation of the natural environment, but also highlights the importance of collaboration, innovation and community participation in this pivotal task.

CAP DE CREUS NATURAL PARK – CATALONIA, JUNE 2024
Thanks to the collaboration with Bcorp Spain, we carried out a volunteer action in the Cap de Creus Natural Park. We are focused on restoring a crucial trail to protect this unique maritime-terrestrial landscape on the northern side of the Costa Brava, which attracts half a million visitors annually. On this occasion we were accompanied by Xavi Laporta, founding member of Margers de Catalunya, who led the restoration using his experience in the dry stone technique. During two hours we improved the signage and maintenance of the trail, combating erosion and improving the visual appeal of the park in one of its busiest areas.
